Hi all. Just trying to uplaod a pic of my B5 S4. What do you think?

Nice... any work been done to it? had a healthcheck done yet for the usual turbo killers... boost leaks, MAF, Diverter valves etc.

Dont mean to alarm you, but unless you have had these sorted by a 2.7T specialist you will be paying out big money in no time at all.

MAF is guaranteed to be shot if it has not been replaced, same with the DV's. Possible you have a boost leak, this is not good for turbo life and deffo one of the most important things to watch on these cars.

Otherwise, awesome car, love it!! Looks good all dark :)

Ditto. Looks very nice especially the painted wheels and it being lowered. Post more pics.
 
Nice S4, get it up to MRC for a health check as already said though. Thought mine was running lovely until Doug found a boost leak. Got the obligitory remap too, seemed rude not to LOL

Yes mate its stock other than the suspension.
Do you know what the symptoms are of a faulty diverter valve. I get the trademark dumpvalve 'woosh' when coming off the throttle, but also get what i can only describe as a noise similar to a pigeon 'cooing' lol.
Could this be because of a faulty diverter valve or is it just the wastgate?

Any help appreciated cheers
 
Well thanks for all the replies, I have now taken the good advice of ZeroK66 and others and booked it in to MRC on the 23rd June for an engine healthcheck. Fingers crossed its all ok but until then I'm not going to stress it too much just incase. I am however a bit happier with the £300 I shelled out on a comprehensive warranty, just checked what it covers and to my surprise it includes all engine and turbos etc so if they need doing now is a good time.

Anyway thanks again to everyone for the advice, could end up saving me thousands. Cheers:icon_thumright:
 
more pics as promised, these are the only other two I have of it at the moment. Starting prep for a full respray at the beginning of July so will be taking plenty more when its all done.

I'm tempted to respray my A4 so badly with some crazy colour scheme, but its nearly 2k for a full respray. Dont really have that money to spend on paint :(

luckily im a sprayer for a large dealer in surrey, will get paint for 1/3 the price and do everything myself so would be looking at about £500 all in, by the time i renew the door mouldings etc.

It can come accross a bit strong and almost intimidating to a newbie but the advice given here is fair enough I think.

Someone new to a B5 S4 is best advised of the problems a simple boost leak can cause with a small K03 turbo with an oil bearing.

There are other tuners and experts, but unless we all try them all how are we to recommend them wholeheartedly?

If you don't wish to start san argument, I have found it best in the past not to accuse one gentleman of having his **** in another gents **** hole.

I'm glad you have had such good luck with both your S4s and not had any of the common faults, but your ignorance or head in the sand approach to these issues is not to be recommended.

It is not unusual for S4 owners to have turbo problem free ownership, but that normal goes hand in hand with good care of the car.

isn't this forum all about helping, assisting and offering advice to others or have i missed something?

in many instances even Audi dealers who should know these cars inside out don't have enough experience to diagnose and check for common S and RS faults such as faulty DV's and split F pipes. i'm sure you have huge knowledge of these cars but even yourself started with no knowledge so cut the newbies some slack, we all have to start somewhere.

Lets just say it wasn't the nicest, nor useful addition.

Again, great car look fantastcic.

You'll be happy afteryour health check as you either come away knowing everything is A Ok for very little outlay or you'll have something like your MAF replaced and release the full potential of the car.

It's very hard to resist that remap while you are there though.....eh Dave.....
 
too ****** right, i couldn't believe the difference as i booted it up the slip road onto the motorway in 6th after my remap, accelleration at silly speeds in any gear is now so effertless it's ridiculous.

you deffinately need to get it on MRC's "rolling road", as we say on RS246, it'd be rude not to!
 
i must admit I am looking forward to my health check now as I was reading through the warranty pack I got with the car and everything is covered, including turbos. Even if I have to pay out a bit to get it right I should be able to claim and get reimbursed.

Think I might leave the remap for the time being.............. but have been known to buckle under pressure so we will just have to leave it in the hands of the gods on the 23rd June lol
 
Can I ask how much the health check's gonna cost you? Not long had my S4 either and fancy gettin it down there too, not that far to go. Just had a look under my bonnet and found a nice big split in my throttle body boot, new one of them needed then. Gonna replace dv's, f-pipe and MAF sensor too as soon as.

I called them on Thursday to book it in and he said an engine check would take about 1 hr. They claim they will :

1. Connect to VAGcom to check for any errors and fault codes etc.
2. Visually inspect all aspects of Induction and Turbochargers etc.
3. Complete pressure test of the system to identify any boost leaks etc.
4. Road test to manually observe problems befor and after etc.

Price £45 (can't remember if it was plus VAT or including VAT)

Obviously just charging one hours labour I think.

I am expecting to have to pay approx £80 for a replacement MAF with old unit as a surcharge, as well as the price of two DV's and maybe a hose or two who knows lol
 
It's not a huge split, just next to the jubilee clip on one side, about an inch long, looks like it's going where that sensor plugs in the top too, not gonna be helping. I'll be off to Audi next week to get a new one ordered, prob a MAF sensor too, hope it's not too much, bit skint at the moment!
