Driving along a dual carriageway yesterday minding my own business, when 2 lads in an old style Astra pull up behind me about 2 inches from my boot waving their arms around. I'm in the right hand lane, overtaking, doing aprox the speed limit (40mph).

I slow right down then accelerate away - I hate people up the back of my car. They eventually catch up still waving their arms and gesticulating at me, so I spray them with the washers.

At which point they start clapping their hands at me?

Then they dive up the inside to overtake at exactly the same point in time that the BMW who was lane hogging in front of me pulls left. I am now level with them and they swerve into my lane, forcing an emergency stop from myself to avoid collision.

They then swing a U-turn which I follow, and try to get away from me (in an old Astra!!!!). Stopped at a roundabout and John gets out of the car and they put their foot down and disappear.

How weird - is it that some tw*ts can' thandle a bird in a fast car??? They couldn't even outdrive me, and cacked their pants when John got out the car!

This does happen to me quite a lot - blokes get the arse with me while driving for absolutely no reason e.g. M25 in the rush hour, some guy entered the motorway and swerved across 3 lanes of traffic (no mean feat in the rush hour in the morning!), as he got to my lane he was level and wound his window down and lent out the window yelling at me and waving his arms around as apparantly i was supposed to brake to allow him in front of me. It got to the stage where he actually under/overtook cars between 2 lanes i.e. he had one wheel in one lane, one wheel in another lane, and each lane had a car in.

I can guarantee I wasn't lane hogging in either instance, or any of the others where blokes have decided to have a go at me - take the bloke who wouldn't let me overtake on the motorway (3 lanes of empty traffic) so when I went past 2 clear lanes to his left, he caughtme up and tailed me for 15 miles, even when I slowed down to about 30mph !!!!!!!

    Get a life !!!!

Yep, my wife gets a fair bit of abuse at times, interestingly more so when driving the Corsa than the S3.

She's had all sorts, including an attempted undertaking on a motorway slip road (i.e. using it as a lane). Yes, I know it's mad! Numerous gestures etc. are quite common when it's them in the wrong, just like you find.

On the subject of folk expecting to be let out, people seem to forget that they do not have right of way when joining motorways. One of my pet hates is the people who think approaching a roundabout at million mph gives them right of way. Nope, cars on the roundabout have right of way over cars entering, no matter how fast the git is going. Anyway...

Old style Astra, watch out. Guy I know with an Escort Cossie came across a supercharged one, quite funny. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Just take it easy, no need to get wound up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Hehe, although the S3 isn't obviously sporty unless you know what you're looking at....

I think it is a gender related thing. I have a blond girlie wig which I sometimes wear on weekends and I can tell you I get some strange looks in the car, especially when I put my high heels down.

No bloke likes being *rsed whipped, including me, except on party nights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dancing.gif

Interesting question and one I've given some thought to just lately, as have driven round the M25 twice during rush hour in the past week and weaved in and out of the traffic. I noticed that you can drive on the inside of 4 lanes quite easily undertaking loads of lane hogs, and the trick is to keep in the inside lane for as long as feasible, cutting back in just when the exit road branches off.

Some guys seem to have a big chip on their shoulder when it comes to women driving fast cars...... I remember one instance when the wife had picked me and a mate up from the boozer in the RS6 (said she had misplaced her car keys ...... yeah right!) and some guy challenges her by erratically swerving between her and another car simply to get in front of her ...... she casually stuck the selector into sport buried the loud pedal in the shag pile and shot after the guy - oh the look on his face his new clio french thing GTI or whatever getting overtaken -

    1 at *** mph
    2 in an estate car
    3 driven by a women

    oh the joy.........! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/fuck_you.gif

    Quality reading!!!
You know you shouldnt get wound up by it as you know you would out run them anyday of the week.

The day before i got married, i got on the M3 at Sunbury to carry on straight at the end and go M27 East to wards Portsmouth. Some geezer at Camberly in a van drove like an arse all the way undertaking cars so as to get in front of me etc and would then sit 2" from my bumper. This went on with lots of arm and hand gestures all the way to Winchester. (my passenger is a Copper & best Man). We get to the bit where it widens out and left lane gives you Soton City as does middle lane and right lane goes straight on and joins the M27 east (Andy Mac porobably knows where i mean). I am in the right lane with a 69mph muppett in the way, white van tw*t tries to undertake just as i am flashing muppett. Muppett swings out of the way over to the left causing white van tw*t to end up heading towards Bournemouth!!. All the while he was offering hand gestures and then realised where he was off to - the look on his face was priceless!! These people shouldn't mess. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

nor should the two guys in the XR3 Convertible (guys in a girl's car, and an essex girl's car at that ??!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif ) who were ragging me on the way back from AmD last Wednesday.. Was doing about 85mph (ok I admit I do like to press on a lil' bit /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif ) in the outside lane when these guys started flashing their lights at me and giving me w**ker signs, wanting me to get out of their way.... Now there was no room in the middle lane (well I didn't see any space!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif) so they got a faceful of diesel smoke as I stretched my right leg out (well I was getting tired !!!). By the time I was doing a good 60% over the national they had almost disappeared in my mirrors - I also realised that it probably wasn't a good thing to be driving so fast so I slowed down again and just pootled down the road. Only seconds later they zoomed straight past, giving me the up yours, and unfortunately for them letting the unmarked copper in front of me get a faceload of attitude, and speed!

    I was still laughing when I got on the M25 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/fuck_you.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dancing.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/fuck_you.gif
