Hi I've got a 57plate 170bhp 2.0tdi a3.
Over the weekend I had a scanner plug into my car, to erase the service light. I'm not sure what happened but by the sounds of it they tried there scanner to see it it can alter mileage. Some how now the car has imobilised itself through the clusters. Clocks don't light up or work at all. And car won't start. It turns over but cuts out.

Do the clocks just need resetting with the correct software? Are do I need new clocks and them reprogrammed?

Why would you let somebody test that on your car.

I would say they've corrupted the firmware & its either a reflash of the firmware or replacement cluster.
