Ok so I have the Audi A3 1.6 sport. I know there is very little I can do to this model in regards to performance etc. I am lokng at having a Turbo fitted but what I need to know is who is the best to go to? I want to use a VAG specialist and someone who is high in the recommendation list. I know itmay cost me around the £2000 mark but it's something that if it will bring me the power and the performance I am willing to pay and have myself an a nice little sleeper :)

any suggestions on who to go to or who to have a quopte by would be much appreciated.

Cheers in advance

I would sell it and buy a 1.8t and use that as the base tbh mate...

Its gonna cost more than £2k to get a 1.6 turbo charged

Ok, so would I be on the better track to do this and then work on the power etc from there? If so, then I will take this into consideration and may just have a 1.8T engine dropped in and still have it as a sleeper..........

Also to add it will cost more to insure due to it being modified vehicle. Uprights will need changing to allow decent brakes. The gearbox is too weak to cope with the 1.6 let alone a turbo charged vehicle.

Buy a 1.8t and de badge it= sleeper.

A debadged A3 will look like any other A3... you can debadge a 1.8t and put 1.6 badges on if you really want too but as Mark has inferred the amount of work required to get it right (even dropping in a 1.8t engine) would blow your budget wide open and would never be as good as buying a proper 1.8t to start with...

You can hardly call an A3 with a 1.8t engine a sleeper... an A3 with a big *** turbo then maybe yeah but an A3 with a 1.8t is just an A3 with a 1.8t...

Save the hassle and expense, buy a 1.8t and start from there... hybrid K03 and the right parts will net you 280bhp and 300ftlbs + of torque... in a FWD A3 thats more than a sleeper.. thats an S3 beater :)

LOL... sorry, that made me chuckle :)

The difference between the 5v and the 20v is 3 cylinders lol....

1.8 VAG engines are 20 valve, 5 per cylinder, 4 cylinders, 20v
