DPF problem

Got a '56 170 with the dreaded DPF, had a few problems with the warning light coming on and having to call Audi Roadside Assistance who have managed to use VAG.com to regenerate.

This last time, I drove home and the glowplugs warning came on as well. Called the RAC man and he wasn't able to regenerate due to the particulate levels going over 90%, he says I have to get a new DPF at the cost of ~£1500 :faint:.

Is there a way of sorting this without spending that kind of money? All advice welcome :sadlike:
