Hi all, im looking to buy a 1998 audi s4 that has had some work done to it. I have asked the seller what the bhp/lbft is, but he doesnt know. he said it is running a peek of 1.8 bar boost dropping town to 1.5 bar.

it is a 1998 s4 and this is the spec

The spec is KO4 RS6 hybrid turbos, 600cc injectors, MRC fuel pump, MRC custom exhaust from the turbos back , RS4 Intake Y pipe and MAF, Water methonal injection.
All work has been carried out by MRC.
Nearly new RS6 brakes on front and S8 brake conversion on back suspension. There are Eibech shocks and springs all round. The car has been well serviced and maintained with no expense spared with receips to prove. In the past year it has had £7000.00 spent on it including a recent health check by MRC.

what sort of power/lbft do you think it will be running, the seller said he didnt know

thanks
ian

Hi Ian, first of all, :sign_welcome: to ASN!

I have moved your thread to the appropriate forum to gain a better response amongst S4 owners. :icon_thumright:

still seems good value to me tbh, even with 40k missing from the dial.

A lot of the parts that wear out have already been replaced etc, and its an incredible spec.

I nearly bought that car (was outbid at the last minute on eBay) back in October 2006. It had 144k on the clock then as far as I remember (was defo >140k) and it had been very well looked after. The seller was and still is a forum regular over on RS246, I expect this is the last genuine mileage reading which could be relied on.

Each time this car has subsequently come up for sale (it's pretty distinctive!) since then (I think it's now on it's 3rd different owner since Oct 2006) it's mileage figures have varied.

Mileage aside, it was obviously still in good nick back in 2007 as the next owner had a mater/meth kit fitted and had it remapped (incidentally it was sold in 2006 for just over £8k and was running an estimated 450bhp on the hybrid turbos which had been fitted in 2005). I reckon it's worth a punt if the price is right, just don't be expecting a minter. Just a shame that the history from the last 3 years is so sketchy.

that thing has got to be close to 500bhp and similar lb ft of torque. nice spec mate.

This car is getting some stick over at that thread..

You see it had 145k in june 2006.
Used as a daily driver, but the guy who owns it now says he's done 10k in it to equal 157k in 'true' miles.. so that means the guy before him and after Tartan Rob drove 2k..

I belive this car is nearer to 200k and i wouldn't trust a car to be a daily driver if it's been clocked, what else could've been done?

There's two guys on there from York (also where the car is from) who are backing the seller up and trying to brush the issue of mileage. Get it for nearer £5.5k or £6k max and you've got a car that you could put right.

(edit)

AND! the guy selling says ALL work has been done by MRC, Doug at Mrc says he hasen't serviced it for 3 years.. and the guy who put in the first post owns a garage that specialises in Audi S4's, not a problem, but then why say all works by MRC?

On older cars like this i dont bother one bit about mielage. I just look at a car and if everything is ok and works im happy.

Agreed. An educated eye can tell if a car has been looked after after a 10 min inspection. As long as all the usual suspects have been taken care of at some stage in the cars recent life than I'de say snap it up!
