Hi
wanted to get your opinion on the following,
i need to replace my PAS pump on my 1.8t as it is making a horrible noise as discussed before (i have already checked all the other parts that could cause the noise and had it confirmed by a VAG specialist that its the pump), i have a recon pump to fit and went to fit it today and found that getting the car into service position is a real pain, but the gap at the front is too small to get tools in without doing this. Has anyone managed to change theirs without service position? maybe by removing the fan to provide a bit more room?

If not, can anyone find me a step by step guide, preferably with pictures for getting into service position for a B6, I cant find one anywhere!

Cheers

pretty sure it is, i cant see anyway to do it without, got a haynes today and says the same. anyway, managed to get the bumper off and everything else needed. It was actually pretty easy with the haynes, but couldnt for the life of me get the impact absorber bars off, bolts were solid, ended up pretty much stripping a couple of them

if you mean the star bolts (3 per side) yer they tend to need a bit of WD40 spraying on them front and back and leaving for 10 mins before they come lose with ease,

did you take any photos of the said job for the rest of the poor folk here ? or me, lol, my pump is screamming like a pig at full turn, my one may need changing spoon too, my ones on a 2.5 tdi V6 :sob:

i didnt take any photos but i had to put the car back together anyway without doing the job so when i give it a go again, ill try to get some. Might need to get a couple new bolts to replace my stripped ones, hope audi dont charge the earth for them
