as in the title, i wanted to know if anyone has encountered this problem? my car died in the middle of central london and after alot of hassle i got it back to a garage thinking it may have been cambelt damage but was told the coil wiring burnt out. any ideas on how much roughly it would cost to repair? any ideas would be appreciated!

A used loom form a scrap yard would cost you in the region of £30 i would think. Either use it to replace the whole thing, or cut n splice out the bad bits.

Not hard to do IMHO

i dont think it was any of the coils failing, but i am not very good at anything under the bonnet as i seem to do more damage than good... i was worried the engine would need replacing and after abit of research read that the 1.8t engines fail due to a blockage somewhere near the fuel pump (filters?). i had to replace one for an old mk4 golf 2 years back and if anyone thinks this is true how could i get it cleaned?
