Grinding noise!!!

Hi all,

Just looking for some advise really, i hav a 2002 S3 and just lately noticed a strange grinding noise which i thought was coming from the clutch it happens when i come fully off the clutch and first put my foot down it makes a very short grinding noise, i asked my mechanic friend about it and he said its nothing to do with the clutch or the gear box and is more likely to be somthing vibrating, can anyone advise me where so start looking??

Sounds like one of the catalytic converters is about to give up his job, me guess.

Clutch cable needs lubricating???
