Are all A3's german?

Hi all,

does anyone know if all A3's are built in germany? I know some Golf's came from the VW factory in south africa.
Can you find out where an A3 is built by the vin number?

I beleive the 8P is built in Belgium?

Some 8L inc the old TT were built in Hungary

Yep, the build-location is in the VIN...

The 11th character along describes the build-location. A is the Ingolstadt Factory.

Someone told me that all 8P A3's are now built in Ingolstadt, Germany? I'm not sure about 8L's but I assume it's one of the factories listed below.

W = Germany - originally West Germany, hence the W
AU = Audi

All TTs (and only TTs) have this WMI instead:

T = Hungary
RU = Audi

Position 7-8: Audi Model Number - 8L for A3 1997-2003 8P for A3 2003 on
