Hey fellas, just joined this forum in hopes of some possible Audi enlightenment. Ive been chasing an 8p for a good while now and have come across a rippa of an a3 2.0T with the 6 speed. All is well and maintenance is all up to date and log-booked however the owner just informed me of a disturbing sound. He mentioned that the bearings in the transfer case are a little bit noisy at times and only started after he had it parked out side for 6 weeks. A mechanic told him it might get away with being greased slightly otherwise its between a $800-$1000 fix. I haven't been able to find any info on transfer case bearing replacements or whether it's a common or serious problem across the haldex systems. Does anyone know anything about this issue, whether it's fixable, is it more likely an unexpected $4k fix, or if it's most likely some other issue?
