Evening all,

I've owned my S3 for the last 2 months and ever since ownership, the 4WD system hasn't worked. When I purchased the car, I plugged in my OBD reader and noticed the following code was flagged: 16671 - Haldex pump faulty - internal system fault. After scouring the web for answers, I came across a neat article on Haldex repairs (https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/generation-5-haldex-fault-finding-repair-guide/#:~:text=If the car is getting, function must be carried out.) that explained if the 16671 code was being flagged then both the pump and the eco will need to replaced.

The car is a 67 plate Audi s3 with 54k miles. To my knowledge the haled service has never been carried out and therefore I suspect the pump has gone (plus I think they often last around 60k miles anyways?). Do folks think the ecu will need replacing too? I've got it booked in with a specialist in Halifax (about an hour from me) but keen to know if I need a new ecu so I can take two cars across.

The specialist said he has a spare pump that he could use to try to see if it is the pump that is faulty, but would I need to add oil to the system? I also tried to use Carista to see if I could perform the pump learn myself but I couldn't hear a high pitch noise coming from the system so makes me wonder if my ecu is faulty?

Any help / guidance would be appreciated.

The specialist will fix it and add the needed oil and fresh filter he'll charge you for it anyway so don't buy anything and let the specialist deal with it.

Be good to know if a failed ecu is a common occurrence - don't want o get mugged off by the specialist !
