Good evening folks, so I bought my first q7 last 9days ago, on the way home I get gearbox malfunction warning come on. Had the car a few hours tops. Been diagnosed with incorrect shift in gears 4 and 5. I’ve read a lot online forums etc and a lot of people are saying it’s the mech unit, the company looking at the car have recommended a service and fluid change to see if that fixes it. I am 9 days in and still not driven the car and the car won’t be serviced for another week which will put me at 16 days. I only have another 12 to get it fixed before I’m potentially out £23500. Has anyone had a similar issue that could help me shed some light on thesis issue for me. Thanks in advance.

Just take it back to the garage who sold it & tell them to either fix it or refund you & the fix needs an extension on the refund policy in writing so if it still goes wrong after a period they will take the car back.

Gearbox issues on Audi's for me are one of the worst issues & always a very good reason to give a car back or not buy as they're so expensive to repair now & hardly any people know how to properly repair them.

Thanks for this mate. I have had that conversation and he’s happy to pay for the repairs at a local specialist to me. He offered me the option of him picking up and fixing but if I use people I trust I know the work will be done and they will guarentee any of it. But it’s getting the ****** issues confirmed before they can repair which is the worst part

Going through the same with lads Q7, 4.2 tdi V8

Just paid close to £2k to have a used box fitted which is also no good, worked well for 20 miles then massive clutch slip and vcds says 'incorrect gear ratio' 1st gear and default to 6th gear, these gearboxes seem a nightmare on high mileage cars, hopefully ill check the oil level and find its low, but it still goes backwards ok
