Hi all, a new member hoping for some help with an issue I'm struggling with. The car is a 2009 A3 cabrolet. I few weeks ago over a couple of days there was some intermittent passenger side electrical issues and alarm triggers. It soon settled to a point where nothing electrical is working on the near side door (mirror, lights, central locking, window), nor the near side rear window. The alarm will set even though the passenger door remains unlocked, but doesn't trigger if the door is opened. Initially I thought it might be the drivers door wiring harness as I had repaired wires here in the past (and there was evidence of a previous repair). So this time I replaced the whole plug and checked all wires for continuity between plug and other end of the harness before reconnecting. However, this made no difference - exactly the same issues. I had also checked fuses. I have now checked the continuity of the wires in the passenger door harness and all were good. There was a very small amount of corrosion on a few pins into the control module which I carefully cleaned all up but this made no difference - exactly the same issues. There was a live 12V supply to this module. I then checked the near side rear window module. All clean and dry, and a live 12V supply. I've rechecked all the wires in the drivers door harness and the plug and socket again - all seem fine. I'll copy a shortened vcds scan with just the faults below. Has anyone got any ideas what to do next? Do I start replacing modules? I know all the modules are linked, and that the drivers can affect all the others - or could it be the passenger one affecting the rear as well? It seems unlikely that both would fail together. Or is there something else, maybe another modue or other wiring I should be looking at and checking? Or maybe a different way of checking wiring or modules? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

You have checked all the wiring, n/s front door, from the chassis to the door lock, ie also the wires behind the rubber boot, from chassis to door on the n/s

I've checked n/s front and o/s front from connector at door module to terminals in plug after the rubber boot that connects into the door pillar. I haven't checked any wiring inside the car as I'm not sure where it runs and where it would need checking. But a good point, I haven't checked any wiring to the door lock(s), there must be another connecter running inside the door the lock mechanism that I've missed. Tomorrows job!

door control module looks like this, I can't see the location on the a3 8p but a golf mk5 same chassis is behind the glovebox @NHN will hopefully see this and help

Thanks Lee69. I thought the door control modules were attahed to the window motors on the front doors - is there another door control module somewhere?

It looks like there is, under the dash is my guess

I've been checking the wiring again in the passenger door. All seems good, including to the lock. However, when I plugged in the door card connector when pushing it in the window motor briefy ran, I tried a couple more times and it did the same. I think I also saw one of the door lights flicker. Since fiddling with it more I can't get it to repeat this. Does this suggest these connections are not good, or even the module itself has some poor joints as I was pushing into the black box of the module a bit as well? Any suggestionsonwhat I should try next - replacing the module or the connector? And finally (for now) is there a way to manually wind the window back up as it is now down a bit!

I had an idea which might help confirm it's the module rather than wiring. I tried the module out of my mk5 golf - this did operate the window (backwards) from the drivers switch so I was able to close it, but nothing else. At least it points towards the module at fault so I shall try a replacement next.

The new module has done the job, thanks. (Well almost. The folding mirror isn't working, nor are the passenger door lights but for now that doesn't matter. The windows and locks are working (and roof but not in this weather!))

If u have vcds it might be worth taken note off the coding and put in a safe place . Then recode the module a bit at a time and see if that works
