Hi all, looking for advice as to the best brand recommendations for the timing chain swap on my 2.0 TFSi BUL engine.
Also, any specialist timing tools required for this job ( cam belt has been done recently prior to my purchase - documented )?
I believe this job can be done in the car ( Haynes implies it's an engine out job )
thanks for your help all..

The big question is, are you of a DIY car servicing nature?

It can be done in situ , but its an awkward one and not for those that are a bit unsure of what they are getting into.
Buy genuine oem parts where possible, and yes cam locking tool is needed as a minimum requirement, with small hands and a lot of patience.
also correct spline tool for the variator bolt, which can be problematic.

unless you have a specific reason to do it yourself, then don't , just take it to an indy and let them deal with it.

Are you thinking from a preventative maintenance view point or suspected excessive wear etc.

Hey, yeah, confident and competent ( i think...), I'm in the trade myself. Working in restoration just now, but spent a few years servicing and repairs, gearboxes clutches, cam belts etc. I would always get OEM, seen to many poor pattern parts..
chears for the heads up!
