Hi
Could anyone help with Crank no start issue? I have Adequate pressure at the rails, i can read cam and crank rpms and no fault codes in ecu. i get fuel to all 6 injectors but non fire. The car fires on easy start no problem. Am i missing something? I have vcds and can access all sensors.
Please help
Thanks
John

Assume once the east start has ignited, it dies?

Yes i can keep it running a little if i keep pulsing with easy start.
After cranking a long time if i pull an injector or glowplug they are dry.
When i put a little diesel down into cylinders and reassemble it fires and dies.
When i unplug injector and check for faults still no codes.
I dont seem to be getting any signal from ecu to injectors telling them to fire.
I have probed injector wires with multimeter and test light and get nothing.
Thanks

Have you checked to see if the actuator flap located after the MAP sensor (passenger side) is stuck shut or seriously blocked with build up? I know you have no fault codes, and these by default are open. However, if it's stuck or seriously blocked up, which is a common problem for these as the EGR outlet is right in front of this very flap and gets gunked up, it will be stopping air from going in and allowing ignition.

Yes throttle body is clean and open and springs back freely. Intake manifolds are new and motors operate correctly. I took the Egr off and cleaned it as the flap was stuck open but not clogged. Could it be the map sensor itself it seems ok it reads 98kpa when plugged in and 255 when i unplug. I slipped a piece of pipe over it and the values go up and down with pressure and vacuum. Still get no signal from injector wires. Any ideas?

No power to the injectors when attempting to fire? I'm not sure what signal should be going to them when the ignition is on but the engine is not being turned over, but if no signal is going to them when turning over, then it's a potential wiring issue leading back to your ECU.

Have a look in this thread for what mbar rating for on crank: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/15369/#post-138395 - in this situation the crank sensor wire got eaten by a rat, but this is a reference for seeing what fuel pressure is from the HPFP.

P.S. Checked your fuses?

The HPFP is brand new and makes correct pressure as i can see Actual and specified values in vcds. I Can read the rpms of crank sensor and cam sensor when cranking so they working. I've had every single fuse out of all 4 fuse boxes and batt terminal fuses and jumper fuses are fine.
I'm really lost at the moment.

I traced wires back to ecu and all are ok. I'm running out of ideas any input would be great.
Thanks

I'm afraid i'm all out of ideas mate. You seemed to have narrowed it down to no activation from the injectors, as well as no power to them at all. I don't know if that's a potential fuse or relay issue located in the box the ECU lives in. I think at this point, an audi specialist or a garage you trust for their experience and knowledge are your next best bet. You can at the very least tell them everything you've done.

It sounds like an airlock in the fuel rail, easy thing to happen when you start breaking into fuel lines. About all I can suggest is fitting a priming pump on the feed hose from the tank and trying to push the air through the system, unless you have access to a vacuum bleed that will fit on the end of the common rail.
