An offer just popped up on Facebook Marketplace.
A 2001 Audi A3 1.8T 2 door with a blown headgasket for 500 euros. Car has been sitting for a while and I was wondering if you guys could tell me whether or not it's worth the risk flipping an A3 1.8T with a blown headgasket.
I am knowledgeable in A3's and the 1.8Ts myself to an extent but I suppose it could either be A) a fun flipping process or B) a complete disaster.
Theres always the question, of how long the car was driven with a blown headgasket, if it ever was overheated and if the head is warped etc. If the engine is beyond salvageable I could always just find a spare 1.8T from breakers.
I sent out a message to the owner asking basic questions (service interval, how long been sitting etc.) and awaiting a reply.
Any things to look for when going to look at the car? Compression check?
Cheers guys
