Yes, I have had the message on a couple of occasions over the last year or so. Glitch I reckon.Yeah I figured as much - I think I’ve had it appear maybe once before over the last 4 years but wondered whether it would now be a regular thing due to the modification.
Glad I’m not the only one and fingers crossed it was just another rare random occurrence!

I believe for Nvidia chips Audi offer an update to get satellite maps working again, regarding the myAudi app, to use the range/lock and unlock function you need the 10-digit code that comes on a clear key tag, if you’ve brought your car from a main dealer make sure it comes with the key tag, or the code, if it doesn’t ask them to order one, considering you’ve just brought a car they shouldn’t have the cheek to charge youHi All, First post here I've been following this thread for a little while now.
I've just put a deposit down on a Q7 2017 (registered in 08/2017) and just preparing so I know what to do about the mapping. I had an A5 for a couple of years from 2017 to 2019 and the google maps was the best thing! I used it almost every drive, loved it.
I'll be going into the dealership next week to pick up the car and want to know what you guys recommend I should do.
Where I would like to get to is:
A) working satellite mapping (google or other) and;
B) to be able to track my car, lock/unlock etc using the myAudi app.
C) to get to A & B at the cheapest cost!
Here is what I have gathered from reading all the posts. Is this all correct?
Qualcomm processor
- Can be upgraded to Satellite Maps
- Needs Audi Connect Subscription (£140p.a. approx?)
- Upgrade by dealer or MAK Coding (£25)
- Can still access myAudi to track car, see fuel, unlock unlock etc (£40p.a. approx?)
- Does this option need a data sim?
NVidia processor
- Can NOT be upgraded to Satellite Maps
- Google Maps can be re-activated by Congo from a5oc (€220)
- Audi Connect services are disabled
- Does this mean I cant connect to the car with the myAudi app to track location and see fuel, lock, unlock etc?
- Does this option need a data sim?
Any help would be really appreciated! Thank you!
Oh yes thank you!! I remember my A5 came with two clear tags that I used to register for myAudi.I believe for Nvidia chips Audi offer an update to get satellite maps working again, regarding the myAudi app, to use the range/lock and unlock function you need the 10-digit code that comes on a clear key tag, if you’ve brought your car from a main dealer make sure it comes with the key tag, or the code, if it doesn’t ask them to order one, considering you’ve just brought a car they shouldn’t have the cheek to charge you
I have to order one for my new car, think last time I checked it was £60 which isn’t the end of the world, if it hasn’t already been updated, it’s probably worth getting them todo it while it’s there, I don’t know how accurate this is but I swear I’ve seen posts from people before phoning Audi digital service and been given a years subscription, so I don’t know if that’s worth a try first?Oh yes thank you!! I remember my A5 came with two clear tags that I used to register for myAudi.
So seems like I should get the dealer to do the update for me and that NVidia or Qualcomm shouldn’t make a difference?
But what about the £140 ish fee for Audi connect? No way around that?
The car should have an embedded sim I believe, which will work with a valid Audi connect subscriptionAh right good to know thanks.
Yeah I saw a few posts say that they called and got given a year or two for free but I then read that things changed and you had to extend through the myAudi app. So maybe stopped.
Can I just check, in either NVidia or Qualcomm scenario, do I need my own data sim? Or can I personal hotspot off my phone?
Hi guys -
After a couple of months without Google Maps, I got it updated and the dealership installed a satellite overlay.
Unfortunately, I noticed that I cannot access myAudi Special Destinations that I've been using quite frequently - I used to sent destinations using my phone and myAudi app and access it directly in the car afterward. Does anyone have similar issues?
I'm logged it. I can access all other features (twitter, parkings, fuel prices)... just the one to show my saved destinations is gone. Perhaps it was a system glitch, will try today againJust tried this (I haven't used that function for a while now) and it said I was logged out.
Tried to log in using my email/password for the 'myaudi' website but after a while it announced that the service was not available and to try again later. Will try logging in using the PIN tomorrow.

Hey Guys,
does GE (Google Earth) still works for all of you with Nvidia Units and the Remote HMi = off setting?
since few hours GE is loading anymore…
Turns remote HMI back on the afternoon and Google Earth still seems to be loading fine!
Audi Connect back also as per normal - shall try pinging address over from the myAudi app later today.

Just noticed that mine has gone too. I had done the RMI turn off via OBDELEVEN but like everybody else it looks like it has finally gone. Unless of course it just needs a new address to point to????Well, as I predicted on 7 May, the Google Earth overlay has finally disappeared. I guess it was 31 May as the end date. So it's back to boring plain maps again but this time for ever. RIP Google Earth on our cars prior to MY2018 I think.
Well I've been sat at the dealer all morning. Initially told they were having issues loading the software update (after 3hrs of waiting). I was then told video the audicam email they send you 'Reqs update to goggle maps due to licence period ended, purchase of extension of licence via my audi app and then all should activated £156 including VAT'Thanks for everyone who has commented in this thread, which I stumbled across via Google. I purchased a 3/2018 UK registered (2018 build, according to VIN de-coding sites) S4 Avant a couple of weeks ago (with VC). I have been trying to understand the various tech equipment and eventually realised the Google Earth was not working. I downloaded the 2020-2021 full Europe maps from myAudi (which was not easy until I realised my Mac was the problem...), that did not help, I then learnt about Audi Connect (expired on my care) and purchased a 1 month sub; GE still did not work and then I found this forum. ....
I've had very quick responses from the Audi Digital Services team on this subject. They told me this week that my VIN number / car was applicable for "the replacement service Audi connect "Satellite map" installed and reactivated at your local Audi Partner".
I spoke to Bristol Audi earlier and I've got a sit and wait appointment for tomorrow. They initially throught I wanted a map update but then understood and said quite a few people had been in and they could sort (along with my randomly directed wiper washer jets X2).
They said the update was free and that labour probably will not apply (for either issue) as I have a 2yr approved Audi warranty but we will see.
I will update how I get on, as this may be of interest to others with the same MY car etc. Fingers crossed!
It took 4hrs but it is done and was working on the short drive home (along with POIs overlaid, incl speed cameras I've added). In the end I was not charged anythingWell I've been sat at the dealer all morning. Initially told they were having issues loading the software update (after 3hrs of waiting). I queried given a) I have an audi connect licence (albeit to end June only) b) the maps are 2020-2021 and c) I bought the car approved used from another dealer 2 weeks ago.
They have phoned the selling dealer who agreed to cover the cost.
I am confused as to what licence was needed (it is for mapping generally?) but hopefully it will be sorted shortly.......
Hi AgainHI All
Something has changed in the background. My paid solution from Congo has stopped working also. I sent him an email and he immediately got back to say he was aware, and he was working on a fix, and seems confident he should be able to get it working again in the next few days. Fingers crossed!
Ok read the topic and the previous pages. So, i got an idea that congo is somehow modifyfing the official Update files to get GE working again? But what else is congo doing than configure the setting Remote HMI = off?
are there other options to bring back GE on those 2017 nividia Units?
To answer my own question I heard back from congo and he confirms that "Other Connect functions will remain as they are now. There is no modification to the software". So I'm going to give it a go. He's sent me the files and instructions and as I don't pay until I'm happy it works then it's a no-brainer really. He seems a really genuine guy. Full marks to him.I'm still a little confused. If I use Congo to reactivate my GE overlay does that mean I definitely won't have access to the other Audi Connect Services including Online Traffic and Wi-Fi within the car?
And your GE is now working?
If that was directed at me, congo has sent me the files which need to be uploaded onto a Windows formatted SD card. I don't have time this weekend but will do it next weekend. As you don't pay him until you are happy that everything is fine it is hardly a risk. I will post results as soon as I have time to do the work. And your GE is now working ?

I've got a 2017 car and my google earth is still working. Used it yesterday.
