Can anyone help please my 2003 audi a3 8p is telling me that my engine control unit is coded wrong (vcds lite) the engine still runs but I'm thinking this could be a problem is there anyway I can find out what coding it should be? Thanks in advance eddie.

The engine is running rough and its coming up on vcds as an error

It should show what the error is but as it's the lite version it may not.

the ecu is coded wrong so i need to recode it through vcds but i don't know what the code is to do it? there's a section on ross tech site how to do it but i need the original code from factory to recode it and that's what I'm trying to find out? i think its a 7 digit code it tells the ecu what the car has got i.e. 5 speed gear box ,climate control and other stuff?
