The gremlins are certainly tinkering with my car, as well as my gear issues, I've now got a problem with my clock, gone out this morning and it's showing 21:37 14th Nov again this is an issue I had last year as soon as we got to the cold weather, I've had a battery check and they said the battery is OK, but the car aslo struggles to start and throws out a lot of white smoke when started, head skimmed and gasket replaced 2 years ago and no signs of water in oil.

Sounds more like battery tbh unless poor starter motor draining the battery.

Starter motor has been tested and is OK. Think I may just stick a battery on and see how it is. Would a stater motor drain a battery when the car is parked up over night?

No, but it will drain when cranking.

The clock shows the wrong time as soon as the ignition is on so must be something when the ignition is off.

The clock on my MMI has been incorrect on two occasions recently (out by a few minutes)
It was due to it being set on Auto, Ie using gps satellites (no sim in my a6)
I’ve set it to manual and time has been fine since.
