Hi, I have a 2009 Audi A3 Tdi Quattro. The car has factory fitted power fold/heated/dimming mirrors but recently the driver mirror has lost all of its functions. This didn't bother too much until it failed the MOT as the side repeater also does not work in the mirror housing. I have checked the led in the mirror and this is working but have noticed no power and the end of the terminals. Has anyone experienced this problem or have any ideas how to fix it? I'm happy to remove the door card but apart from unplugging the connection I'm not sure what else can be achieved I have also scanned for codes but no errors have been recorded. Any help appreciated.

Just curious , just i was lead to believe the car off your age wouldn't have had power folding mirrors as there weren't installed the A3 / S3 but i could be wrong .

Mine is a 59 plate to and had the power folding mirrors ticked as a option

Power cable in the door could be broken so you'll need to get somebody to strip the door back and check all the wiring is okay..

But before you do that you could check if any fuses have blown

But do you have power folding mirrors as i only know 3 module letters that have this option , most older A3/S3 have N module

Hi, thanks for the responses. I will start stripping the door back tomorrow to see what cables are feeding into the mirror and look for any visible damage. Regarding the fuses I'm not aware of fuse that is linked to the mirrors?? I've attached a pic of my mirror switch which looks like it was a factory install but I may be wrong.

Yeah, is this when I turn the dial to the bottom position and they both fold in ? I have a s3 if that makes any difference

I would start with having car scanned to see if there are any fault codes and work from there plus whilst doing that you can check your coding

I think there’s a bit of confusion in this thread about the factory option of power folding door mirrors (which are heated and also electrically dimmed) but are manually activated , and the same type of mirror which are fully automatic i.e close and open when you lock/unlock the car.
My car has the former type of mirror and as described above only close when you twist the little knob on the drivers side mirror control switch to the 6 o’clock position .
To make these fully automatic (i.e open and close via the remote keyfob) you need to do various modifications previously documented on this forum.

Just to give you an update on my mirror. I removed the door panel and inspected the cables and did not find any issues. Checked fuses but no issues there either and I don't think the mirrors have a separate fuse. The only thing I can think that's faulty is the module on the door on the picture? I will be booking the car into a vw specialist to see what the problem is.
