OK so I got a wee 2.0 tfsi a3 quattro sport back.
But noticing a few niggles here and there. Going to look into clutch and fan/temp first and wondering if people could help. I've tried to search for answers but not found anything that seemed right.
Clutch - feels a bit clunky on change, feels like not a lot happening during press then knocks out of gear suddenly. If you know what I mean, hard to explain through written text. Sometimes also feels like pedal doesn't come up fully until I press on accelerator then it comes up fully.
Fan/temputure - fan kicks on really early sometimes immediately on start up. Temputure takes a while to full temp and sometimes comes down from midway. I'm thinking thermostat. But with early fan kicking in I'm not 100% sure that'll cure it.

My S3 developed a faulty temp sensor located just above the gearbox. All I did was unplug the connection then on reconnecting the fans went crazy like a jet taking off. I fitted a new temp sensor and all OK again.

Clutch- Maybe the clutch is on its way out of old or high mileage.

Fan- I assume the radiator fan, could it be you have the aircon on, fan is always on with aircon in use.
Thermostat failure is quite common on A3/S3 range so worth changing.

Read about aircon kicking fan on always, does the same with climate control off.

No documentation for clutch change, car has 100k and 05 plate. Would of thought it would have had one, or if not worked hard you think it could be original?

Quite possible the original is still in there, there was a forum member on here with a 2.0 tfsi and clutch ok with 174k miles. Depends on the previous driver and how he used the car, town driving will wear the cluctch out quick than a motorway mile muncher.
