hi all. just joined the audi club after many happy years with a mk2 golf 16v, and want to know what's the best suspension/wheel/tyre combination to give better ride height, better handling, but still a comfy ride.

i've seen most on 18's, but with 40 profile tyres will be pretty bumpy! do 17's look alright on say 45 profile?

the case so far looks like this:

i know, it looks pretty terminal! what can be done.

first off coilovers or springs, projector headlights, wheels and clear side indicators will get you off to a good start. you might want to do a search on these topics as there is a lot of good info in the archives. welcome to audisport.net

17's on 245/40's look fine and ride well if you ask me...;) - but definately need Sport suspension as a minimum

done the clear indicators, thank you skoda octavia at the scrappy.

don't want to go coilovers as i want it to be comfy. not mega low either, done all that b4. want to go lower than sport suspension though.

Mine's lowered about 40ish mm on Eibach Sportline springs, ProLine dampers with 17" B6 alloys running 235/45/17 tyres. Firm but not uncomfortably so and handling is 100% better.
