Hi all,
I have an A3 8v with auto levelling headlights that have been working just fine up until yesterday where I went through a large puddle of some what dirty water yesterday.

Now whenever I drive at night they raise up blinding on coming drivers. When I brake and come to a stop they re-level themselves by raising even higher then coming back down to the correctly level. I have tried adjusting the headlights manually but that does not seem to do anything. I have a feeling that the auto levelling sensor is dirty or something?

Any help is appreciated
TIA

Sounds like the level sensor which is located in the rear suspension area is kaput. You can try and re calibrate using VCDS and there is a procedure for doing this using module 55 Headlight Range. Google the procedure. If this doesn't fix it you'll probably have to replace the sensor and re - calibrate.

Update: Found the problem. The auto levelling green plastic arm snapped. Will be ordering a new one ASAP.
