Just bagged a set of 18" Avus I alloys from the S8. They have pretty much brand new Goodyear 255 tyres on so reluctant to change to any stretch at this point. Does anyone know if you can run this tyre size on the s3 with the adaptors and how many mm spacers would you need to to accommodate the tyre size.

Many thanks

James

Whats the offset and width of the wheels?

....and whats the aspect ratio of the tyres?

Still no width though..

Use this to help you gauge fitment...
https://www.willtheyfit.com/

As a start point standard S3 wheels (17" Avus) are 225/45/17, 17x7.5, ET32

Larger number ET sits wheel inboard, smaller ET pokes wheel outboard... typically on 17" OE Avus or 18" OE RSTT's (18x8, ET33) you would typically use 10mm front and 15mm rear giving an effective ET of 22/17 (17's) or 23/18 (18's)

Assuming your S8 wheels are 8.5" wide you would most likely need an adaptor/spacer of between 25-30mm but the rolling radius is larger with those tyres so some rubbing may occur depending on ride height and the speedo will over read...

They are 18x8 et48. A friend of mine had them on his S3. I thing he ran 20mm front and 25mm rear spacers.

Those tyres you have are too big. 225/40/18 is what you want. Or 235/40/18 at the most. With that bigger rolling radius of the 245/45/18s, your Speedo will read incorrectly by a few MPH.
