Hello, as i'm new here i thought i'll introduce myself a bit. My name is Wessel 21 years old from The Netherlands.

I started with a Mk1 cabriolet when i was 16 (it was done when i was 18). Bought it in quite a rough shape, but with zero rust and only 40k km's. Anyway after driving that for a year i wanted something faster

2 years later:

Then i moved on to my S3. I'ts a mid '99 car so the pré facelift model. 1.8T APY Originally 209hp but it has been re-mapped to 265hp. running on 1.4 bar boost right now. How i bought it:

And you might think, doesn't look to bad. But thrust me the car was pretty neglected.

When i bought it i thought it was a good purchase, which depending on how you look at it was. I expected the worst honestly as we all know how these kind of cars get driven.. and i've had my fair share of problems with it. But in the end i love the car, the way it is a perfect balance between a hot hatch and a tourer. it's a bit of a cameleon in my opinion.

Anyway, i've owned it for 2 years now and these are things i've done to it so far. Both service related and mods:

- Rebuild the Gearbox as it was whining in certain gears
- Replaced the clutch plate, Main seal, pressure plate, and the dual mass flywheel
- About very single Hose has been replaced as they all were completely destroyed (nothing but vacuüm leaks the first half year of ownership) all replaced with Forge/Samco ones.
- New foglights
- New rear lights (the original pre facelift ones)
- Broken electric window frame
- Broken rear wiper motor
- Broke wheel bearring
- N249/N112 delete
- Broken central locking pump
- Faded headlights
- 2 new Side windows because of scratches done by adjusting the frames in the door wrong (last owner)
- Stuck brake caliper in the rear
- Completely redid the crankcase ventilation system + catch can (looked hideous when i bought it and didn't really seem to help this way either)
- Billstein B16 Pss9 Coilovers
- Original Rs4/TT 18' Rims completely redone and powdercoated
- Some really nice VDO gauges in the center console
- Catchcan
- Powerflex bushings in lower control arms (front)

Also i've been trying to fix a boost problem i had (wouldn't go further then 0.8 bar, while the ECU asked for 1.4 bar (20psi) after a lot of testing it became clear the Acuator of the turbo became lazy, the spring broke. i have to say it was quite difficult to locate such a problem..

And probably some other small things that i forgot about. Anyway as we're most of the time just here for pictures:

Changed one of the weakest links of the Gearbox as it was dismantled anyway:

Some pics of the paint, which was honestly in horrible condition:

The whole car looked like this... some pictures of the progress:

You can really see the difference with the door in the last picture (still had to remove the sanding residu on the trim)

some of the wheels:

and of the Coilovers

And the finished product (for now)

Keep in mind the car has done 235.000km's now (146.000 miles)

Now my plans are to get the car to around 400-500hp. But in a way you can't see it, i want it even to look stock when you open the hood. Probably making it myself harder then i should but... yeah...:whistle2:

I noticed there are a lot of threads about this on this forum so i'm sure i'll get all the information i need here:thumbs up:

One question i do have is, should i buy for instance a BAM engine and a Bigger AGU head or is it better to just use the BAM head?

the outside it going to look proper OEM+ probably nothing crazy as i want it to look almost invisible to people that don't know what kind of car it is.

Couple of weeks ago i ordered the first real performance mod, An 3 inch Zinram exhaust (recommended by a lot of people) front to back. last piece of the downpipe is changeable, so when i get another turbo with a bit of luck i only have to change that (probably not LOL). Didn't know the company but as i heard a lot of high performance audi's run Zinram exhausts(Hannover rs4 for example) i've got high hopes for it

Thanks! i try not to look back at what it's cost me so far.. might start to cry:whistle2:

@badger5 The tip that mounts to the Turbo housing (last picture) is indeed 3,5 inch it then reduces somewhere in the downpipe to 3 inch. Where it reduces i'll have to check but i think it was also in that part that mounts on the housing (at least seems like it, i don't have the exhaust at home so i cant check it right now)
