Induction noises

noticed that I have a sort of whoosh sound when coming off the gas, almost like a dump valve sound. I didn’t think the vnt turbos dumped boost as they don’t have a wastgate.

Could it be a boost leak or sticky vnt?

It dumps back into the system. It’s all good, just drive the car.

If you have an open cone air intake you will hear it even louder. Worth checking the diverter valve though.

by diverter valve are you talking about the vacuum control box?

Interested to see what this turns out to be - sounds similar to the noise I hear occasionally from my 2.0 TDi (A4 though) - usually along with a louder exhaust note - I assumed a valve was getting stuck open somewhere.
