Car looks great Ash, you must be over the moon to have it home and be able to put some miles on it now?

Extremely mate! Yeah just need to get more learned values into the car. Bills done most of the work but the process is to get more and more learned values to hone the cars efficiency so the lambda isn’t over compensating etc etc

Hey Karl, thank you for your kind words it’s been quite the journey, plenty more content to come soon as well. Just been very busy recently.

I’ve got a 0.61 AR hotside on the G30-770.

Noise….. so, little bit of background on this. When we built my car no one really knew how loud it was going to be. I mean, it’s a 3.5” exhaust front up back. So it was going to be louder than some for sure.

I bought a DB meter to see what my car was on idle and this was tested at 500mm away from the tailpipe at a 45 degree angle. It was reading 89.7db this was quite high in my opinion, based on the fact I’m planning on going on track days, this was bound to be black flagged as most tracks around the UK are limiting you to 100db on passing by. That and I didn’t really want my neighbours sitting at the end of my drive with pitchforks every time I started my car

So went to Badger5 we had a look under to see what we could fit in there as space comes at a mega premium now! We decided to get a 6” round 10” long parallel offset silencer. Ordered it from FabCo the next day and within 3 days it turned up.

d0e19a2c837d2fb5c095e4a20b6d0c95.jpg

This is what we started off with, Zinram I think could have easily put in larger silencers than what they sell the exhaust with, but at £700 delivered with an extra 3.5” v-band clamp I couldn’t grumble too much.

d736f279c46291da4e30d4bf4412a8b4.jpg

After Alex tacked it all up and test fitted it, we where happy with its placement and this was the end result.

8a3b6f2121900c9564731d50ef7402be.jpg

We had some bets on what we would actually get the DB down by, I was reserving myself for disappointment and said 87db, which I would have been happy with. After fitting it and letting it all warm up…….. it dropped down to 84.3db! A difference of 5.4db the car is much much quieter, very pleased with the result

The other thing we needed to sort out was the tracking. Granted with the power I’m running I thought the car would be a bit of a handful….. but turns out I had major toe in on the rear passenger side and major toe out on the passenger front! Genuinely I thought the car was trying to kill me
67af473aee6285f5d3a4f9c0945b8fe7.jpg

Attempting to do some 100-200 times in Mexico was impossible without the car wanting to put me into either the hedge or the middle of the road!
125236b4a29ef5ec3000ebdb05476e81.jpg

Now that the tracking is all sorted to my specifications of the following -

Front
-1.10 Camber (limitations of ball joints)
+0.02 Toe Out

Rear
-1.10 Camber
-0.10 Toe in

The car handles perfectly, in a straight line! Which now fills with me with more confidence to attempt the 100-200’s

I’ll post up some times in due course!

Also with this setup the car if very responsible, obviously it’s not aggressive for track days but as the car is driven on the road more than track it’s a good compromise.

The car paint work looks spot on mate.

Cheers dude, I’ve not really done much with the paintwork yet! The pictures do make it better than what it really is. I’ve got a DA polisher coming hopefully in time for the bank holiday weekend and all the other bits and bobs. Gonna hit it hard inside and out on Friday all being well

This will be what the beginning of my bank holiday weekend……
7b48011a44dba0673e5eefc370f33e33.jpg

I’ll take some pictures of progress through each process I’ve done for everyone to see and how hopefully will have a good result!

I intend to do the following in order, open to opinions and suggestions from those of you that have experience in detailing.

1. Spray Alloys in Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel.

2. Spray entire car in Bilt Hamber Auto-Foam.

3. Pressure wash off.

4. Spray entire car with Bilt Hamber Korrosol.

5. Pressure wash off.

6. 2 bucket method wash car with Bilt Hamber Auto-Wash.

7. Dry off.

8. Clay bar entire car with Bilt Hamber Regular Clay.

9. Dry off.

10. DA entire car with Rupes Course (Blue) cutting compound.

11. DA entire car with Rupes Fine (Yellow) polishing compound.

12. DA entire car with Rupes Uno Pure (White) ultra finishing polish.

13. DA entire car with Collinite 845 wax using soft black foam pad.

Pretty sure this is going to take me an entire day to do this!

You’ll probably notice I’ve not mentioned I’m polishing and sealing my alloys, as I will be cleaning these almost every time I use the car because of the brake dust my pads produce I don’t see the point in the effort in doing them.

Also I’ll do a bit of a review on the DA Polisher I’ve bought. It’s a SPTA 15mm throw orbital da polisher, fairly good reviews and it’s comes with a hell of a lot of stuff for the money! Once I’m confident and done a few cars I’ll invest in my dream DA polisher a Rupes LHR15 mk3….. just can’t justify the colossal price that comes with it! All of my products and the SPTA DA polisher pictured was half the price of the Rupes DA

Sounds like a great weekend buddy, i'm sure the results will speak for themselves.

I think you are being optimistic thinking it will take a day :p You will be looking at the best part of 5 - 6 hours IMO to do one pass with a DA, never mind four :tearsofjoy:

Right….. well it’s was a bit of a mission! But I’ve managed to get the car detailed in almost 1 day from start to finish.

Last night I went about doing the none contact stuff like the wheels here.
582922f1562ffb783ffebafa12546ab1.jpg

These pads I’ve got are absolute dust monsters, but they stop the car on a penny so I can’t complain to much. A quick spray over with Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel cleaner…
2ec0eddfb45525e671f0cc1c34b33c94.jpg

And you can literally rinse it off with a garden hose! However I used my pressure washer and it fetched it all off without a problem.

Then I went about snow foaming the entire car with Bilt Hamber Auto Foam, this stuff is pretty epic, holds to the car well and fetches off about 90% of the crud.
1b48d989f357ae4ef36c12a02a42dc93.jpg

Once I’d let that hang around for about 5-10 mins I pressured washed it all off and then used Bilt Hamber Korrosol…. This is very similar to the auto wheel stuff, it turns purple once it’s grabbed onto fallout and shrinks it, allowing it to be rinsed off.

14fbcc583b791afe480edaaf1a82833d.jpg

I then rinsed the car off and put it into the garage ready for the next day.

This morning, car out and then did a full in depth contact wash with Bilt Hamber Auto Wash and then completely clay barred the entire car with the Bilt Hamber medium clay bar. One benefit to this clay bar is you can just use water as lubricant! This is basically what I was left to deal with for cutting and polishing.

No idea bud, soon as I’ve got a few others to do it as well. Ideally I want to get some track experience here in the UK too before I go there.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nurburgring doesn't really compare to other tracks tbh.

I had 3 other tracks experiences before Nurburgring in Spain and none of them compared to Nurburgring.

I'd say the Nordschleife is best compared to hillclimbs and windy B roads.

Best is to memorize the track on a video game, watch plenty of videos and when you do go there, take first few laps easy. See how the car responds etc.

I was a bit skeptical first few laps with my car but after a couple of laps and having completely memorized the track I knew exactly where I could keep it floored. Was also to fly and get all 4 wheels off the ground at Sprunghugel (jump before corner to the right).

All in all, great fun it is the Nurburgring Nordschleife

Been a little while since I’ve posted anything but today I finally got round to fitting my Recaro Pole Positions into the car and my armrest with cup holders that I’ve been hanging on to for a good couple years now.

09c645e3d25df9e816ff0ba47ead47db.jpg

c3b06be2f0dfc22fce5d541938f51c9a.jpg

Getting the OEM seats out is a doddle, simple slide back, unplug all the connections, slide forward and remove the plastic covers at the back which act as stops, then simply slide the seats out of the runners.

For those wanting to fit bucket seats, if you buy OMP subframes, they fit fairly well, however if your keeping the carpets then the bolts are not long enough, the bolts they give you are 15mm long, I’ve cut my own at 20mm and used a washer, which they don’t provide.
24e5c6577447597107d107d1e84722be.jpg

534289655cf8c42dadb264bdfffa3b6c.jpg

Once I bolts in the subframe I then tested the resistors I bought for the airbags, which unfortunately didn’t work…… I bought 4.7ohm 1/4 watt resistors, which I thought after having done lots of research where correct, maybe someone can enlighten me on what I “should” be using, I’m still getting “resistance too high” fault code with these.

a2420395bb4bb462a13d84d7d79050d2.jpg

15eefc99f5d0b8291d5337ffdc7b5cfd.jpg

Removed the back seats which is pretty easy as well, all you need to do and drop them down and flick over the catch on the ends and slide each of them out for the centre point.

bc6cd9221d692601641a4e5317a000c2.jpg

That’s the first seat in, which playing it safe I started with the passenger side just incase I ran into any issues that meant I wouldn’t be able to drive the car.

681cd7b8ce1fd15b3988a3d5c4956d57.jpg

I then went on to fit my armrest with cup holders, this again was fair easy to do, more so with a seat out the way.
70e584565a9f3a50b5ebc1ce81d238c8.jpg

I removed the screws at the back, under the ashtray and lifted the centre console up enough to allow me to slide the base of the armrest in and lined up, once I did this I then removed with a multi tool the part of the centre console to allow the armrest base to protrude through.
ca81940d01a1dd78cf74ffa332eef444.jpg

Once I was happy I bolted it all right down and then went about fitting the armrest into the base, you need to then bolt it down with the Allen bolt that acts as a quick release clamp.
233f2e7b1afa52d50013e9dd3a3cb9cf.jpg

Finally both seats are in, I’ve adjusted the positions to be what I deem as perfect for both the driver, me and the passenger. I dislike bucket seats that are set up too low, granted I know the reason for this, but I don’t want to be peering just over the steering wheel
a1bac9b66c33f973a017924852e3d375.jpg

e89203fbce7f7558b8ced1fd1eaec9cb.jpg

Now I need to build a harness bar, I do have my half cage, however it’ll mean I’ll need to cut into the carpet and interior panels which I don’t want to do to be honest, the harness bar will purely be so I can use my schroth 4 point harnesses safely. I’ll design it so I can keep all my carpet and interior panels in sound condition and mount it in the original seat belt buckle positions. Until I’ve done this I’ll be using the original seat belts, you will not be able to use the standard OEM seat belt buckets with bucket seats as they are too long so I’ve ordered some shorter one which I should get tomorrow all being well.

Good job mate they look nice. Did ur car come with heated seats? I'm asking because I've read people say that if the car doesn't have heated seats it could still be wired for them or the seats could have the elements in them but not wired I can't remember which way round it was. So hoping with you taking urs out you could shed some light on that.

Hey Marc, thank you mate. Mine are heated so I wouldn’t be able to check if they had the elements in them but not wired for unfortunately. There ****** heavy I know that much…… must have shed around 80kgs with taking those out and the rears!

My generic seat belt buckles turned up today as planned, good old Amazon! Had to get the sheet metal brake out to manipulate them to form perfectly around the bucket seats. So the cars now safe to drive again….. I also bought the same rating resistors of 4.7ohm 1/4 watts but a different brand, worked a treat! So if anyone else needs some as I have 98 left just give me a shout!

Also started drawing up some ideas for the harness bar, might look to invest in a cheap MIG welder, even if it’s just to tack everything together, so someone more experienced can do the rest, once I’ve got the final plans together and materials ordered.

Well done and nice upgrade..
Did you actually measure the resistance of those faulty resistors? I wonder if they would actually measure what they rated them... Because why would another brand, with similar specs, work like a charm....

Thanks bud! Funnily enough after I fitted them and got it all working, cleared codes etc. I needed to check them to be able to send them back, or it just looks like I’ve taken what I needed and wanted a refund…. The ones I first tried actually measured at 3.3ohms, instead of the 4.7ohms they are advertised as. The 4.7ohms I’ve fitted and work have a different coloured band, gold instead of green, when checking this against a chart it also points to 3.3ohms.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, that usually means that everything is working as it should be and I’m enjoying the car

I am in the process of developing a fully removable and very solid harness bar, once it’s all done and tested I will offer making it for others who are interested at a very reasonable price! So watch this space it’s designed so you won’t have to remove any interior and potentially keeping the rear seats in place.

Also as I was sieving through old picture I’ve made an evolution of the engine bay of my car…. Baring in mind I’ve owned this car now for 7 and a half years and it was completely standard when I bought it!

fefc7142292821be19cff262e15f8dfb.jpeg

From standard to where it is today.

Top to bottom

225bhp - Stock

363bhp - K04-380

391bhp - K04-380 with cams and port meth

642bhp - G30-770 all bells and whistles

Although I’m getting used to the power that the car is at currently, it would be hard pushed to say I’d want more….. I think the only thing I’d try would be to see what octane booster would gain at this power level more as an experiment rather than actually needing or wanting the potential extra power.

In other news…… I’ve started a mobile car detailing company, only in the last few weeks. Testing the waters and getting my brand out there

That's an interesting catch can, is that dropping the left over oil back into the cam cover or collecting positive pressure from there too?

How did you relocate the battery into the boot? A new floor, or just jammed in the wheel well? I was looking at 'yellow jacket' sealed batteries, they can be mounted in their side.

I’d say it’s a “normal” catch can you atmosphere. However there isn’t much normal about it having those massive AN lines it simply catch’s oil vapour, crap, etc rather than the engine burning it off again mate, so nothing fancy.

I fitted a battery tray into the wheel well, well worth doing in my opinion, not really a difficult task either compared to most things. The dry cell/gel “race batteries” batteries are ok, however if you let them go dead they don’t generally recover very well and some even expand and ballon up. When I had one on the car it would go dead within 2 weeks because of the alarm draining it.
