Intake Manifold flapper knocking

Hi all,

I’ve seen numerous threads but no answers to them. I have a 04 S4 with 69k Miles, Manual.

Aweful knocking on idle. Runs and drives ok and as it should. No lights on the dash or anything. Knocking from the top of the intake manifold. When I manually move the level the knocking and noise goes straight away.

Just for reference at 5000 rpm it moves automatically like it should.

Has anyone resolved this at all? Or where for me to look next?

Also,

I have removed the MAF and intake pipe to check the Throttle body.... When I rev the throttle body doesn't move at all or open? Is this due to the MAF being disconnected or should the throttle body still open ok?

Maybe a link between the two that's all.
