Just thought I would ofer some helpfull advice, if you have a 1.8tq like me then it would be wise to check your dip stick holder, you know the orange piece of plastic that you put the dip stick in.
I have noticed mine was getting real brittle and bits snapped off it, in the end the whole top half just came away lol, so I done a botched repair then sourced a whole new holder, cost is an unbelivable £2.82 and is pretty simple to replace, I would suggest you all replace it if you do a service and your car is over 3 yrs old, its a 3 quid change that can save you lots of hassle in the long run, it's also a common fault on all VAG engines.
