key fob frequency

recently purchased a c5 allroad from a friend, he lost the only key fob so it came with the valet metal key... can open drivers door and drive it etc but i want to get a new fob.
problem im seeing is people mentioning getting the same frequency fob as original, however i dont have the original so how do i find out what fob i need? i have vcds..

1.Go to keyman.(to find frequency and loading programe to chip slot.)
2.Contact audi dealer.
