Hi hope someone can help.
I had a new camshaft fitted and things went wrong , so it went to another garage to be repaired.
Before the repair the car use to start on the button flawlessly.
Now it starts perfect sometimes but not others. When it cranks it dips slightly then fires. Sometimes it take about 8 times to start. If parked pointing up hill for a few hours it won't start.
It has had the following
New air filter
New Bosch oil and fuel filter.
New fuel filter check valve.
New map sensor.
New temperature sensor.
New maf.
New egr.
Synchro angle is set to 0
New cambelt.
New water pump
New starter motor.
Could the cam sensor be bad it doesn't show Any faults with vagcom.

There are several engine sensors that can be at fault without causing the ECU to throw a code, The cam sensor is one of them. Probably the only way to tell is either try a known to work replacement or have a look in VCDS engine measuring blocks to see if there's anything unusual going on.
There is a fuel pump relay behind the fuse box that can cause starting problems, which might be a good place to start. IIRC its relay 119, but don't take that as gospel.

Thanks for the reply , I was going to change the relay and cam sensor for genuine and see how that goes.

I like my B6 but jeez its cost me some coin.
