To All S4 S-Tronic Owners-PLEASE READ

Has anyone had any issues with their S-Tronic gearboxes? I have and have seen alot of people with the same issues on here who have paid out a lot of money to resolve the problem. I have started this post just to see how many people have actually got this problem and have had aftermarket warranty. I have just had my 2010 S4 with 59K miles put into a transmission specialist to diagnose as had issues with my gearbox and had to have 2 new clutches (K1 & K2 clutch pack) also a new mechatronics unit and a new dual mass flywheel but luckily I had taken out an aftermarket warranty with Warranty Direct at a cost of £600 a year which seemed a bit pricey at first but after reading some people's experiences/horror stories it didn't seem too bad for nearly a 20 Grand car and even a cheap repair probably wouldn't be too far off that amount! I am probably one of the lucky ones and once the garage had done the diagnosis and sent over the pics they agreed instantly to pay out straight to the garage but I'm lumbered with a £50 excess I'm pretty sure they told me the total was £3800 before VAT. They even paid for a hire car for the a week so it turned out to be a pretty good investment. I have heard plenty of stories of warranty companies not paying out and would just like to see if anyone has had the same issues as me and how they got resolved and also if anyone is thinking about getting an aftermarket warranty then I can't really fault warranty direct, they have been pretty amazing and really helpful but I'm sure other people will have something else to say about them!

Gearbox was clunking from park to drive or reverse and wouldn't engage so quick, bit of a delay and pulling off at junctions there was a delay. Also when slowing down would bang into lower gears and when put foot down and take off would have a Big Bang sometimes like it was confused whether to change up or down and felt like clutches slipping. Are you having problems with yours?

That's quite funny! I was quite happy too at the start. Now I just have a feeling the only reason someone would sell their beloved S4 is if it had gearbox problems I hope you don't have problems with yours and should be fine.

So far happy with mine, was just curious to know what to expect when/if it goes wrong.
