Hi I have a 1991 Audi 80 SE 2.0ltr the car starts up and runs fine untill it has warmed up if you accellerate hard the engine wants to stop at about 4,000 rpm and and is hesitating and dose not want to rev if i take my foot off the accellerator and gently accellerate it will pick up and drive normally i have been told that this could be an air flow problem due to the air flow meter being faulty, can the air flow unit be repaired or will i have to fit another unit  or do you think that it could be a sensor thats playing up.

Dave.

It might be the maf but doubt it because of the age!tends to be more recent vehicles 98 onwards that have problems.
Had a 1993 100tdi that went on to over 400K and never had to look at the maf.Different concept actually in the air filter that is not effected the same by the egr valve sooty gases!!!
