I've recently bought a 2009 A3 TFSi Quattro, it may have been prudent to do a full check beforehand but I wasn't able to borrow a VCDS cable until now. There is what appears to be a comprehensive warranty so I've run a scan and a number of fault codes have popped up.

I'm pretty much a novice to VCDS so ran an auto scan, it may be warnings over nothing (I hope) but would someone please cast there eye over the faults and advise whether I should be off to a garage, thanks.

I can't seem to attach a text file, only an image so apologies for the lengthy post. I've trimmed some of the fault info out to keep the post size down. There are a number of faults from earlier in the year, I take it I'd be best clearing these (not quite sure how?) and running again? Also a lot of messages relate to "under voltage" with 10.5V being a common reading, dodgy battery?

Thanks in advance - also can anyone recommend a good VAG indie in South Yorkshire, ideally Sheffield?

Looks like a flat battery occurred or its got low, as above, clear & rescan.

That's a bit better, cleared the codes on each module and this is what's left, just the air con faulting.

One other question, I was browsing the modules and checked the Headlight Range Control, mine's set to 0000013 which says is for the A3 (8P) Cab. I'm not sure if there's a huge difference or advantage with that setting but shouldn't mine be 0000002 for A3 (8P) AWD?

Seems you've enabled system function test, may need to contact ross-tech to disable if its not a selectable option.

Thanks, I shall take a look and if needed contact them for advice.

This may be of use to someone searching the forum but those last issues are resolved, just one new intermittent brake circuit error which is new.

As NHN advised a system function test had been enabled and it was waiting for me to run those tests.

So I followed the following process to clear the fault codes:
  • Have the car running at idle
  • Select controller and then Basic Settings
  • Set the Group to 003 (as per the error), click Go! and then ON/OFF/Next - The test can take up to 10 mins I'm told but was under a minute on mine and then the Feedback Value came up System OK
  • Repeated for 004 and all done. Cycled the ignition and codes cleared.
