Hello people!
I have a 2004 A4 S-line. Ive been offered some S4 xenons.....will they just plug and play? Im aware I wont have headlight wash, nor auto level adjustment...but will they work? Also do the S4 xenons have a dark surround inside the light as opposed to my standard lights that have chrome?
Thanks! :beerchug:

i think the multiblock will be different, xenon multiblock will be a lot bigger for the washer jet and self leveling sensors, if u get the multiblock with the lights an autospark should beable to wire them up for u, i done 2 conversions for vectras, standard to xenon units

Hi,
I believe that you cannot get real xenons without the fitted headlamp wash wipe system................I think all that is changed is th e colour of light etc..........

I've just bought a 2003 A4 Quattro Sport (US Spec) and I have the headlight washer and what i assume is autoleveling because i have no electric switch to level them my self. Does that mean i have Xenon? Is Xenon and HID two different things!? I don't have a crisp white blueish light? Do i need to get some better bulbs.

hid is an aftermarket kit that u can fit into any headlamp, xenon is a factory fitted option and has a projector lens inside the light unit which projects the beam further, basicly they r the same just different names

Thanks for the answers so far, but can anyone else confirm if they are plug and play or not? I need to make a decision! Thanks!

I thought about this and decided not to fit OEM Xenons as I believe you will need the self levelling sensors and Xenon control unit to make the lights aim properly..I didn't want to risk it and just fitted an aftermarket kit.

Let us know if you do try it though, it would be interesting to know the outcome.

As far as i know all of the lights are identical to look at, some crowds sell copies of them but you cant beat genuine lamps, also dont listen to anyone telling you not to get them because they dont wash or auto level, cos for starters who cares if theres no auto wash.that wont affect you or oncoming drivers if there dirty like everyone elses, and as for auto levelling jst bring it to any garage and using an allen key set the lamps manually so they wont be to high.ps there is a way to wire the lights so that you can turn them up and down on the dash as you do now just havent found any thread on it yet all the best.......

right I've been having a look into this myself, I've called two seperate steelers who both say it cant be done, but for two completely different reasons, one says it will invalidate the warranty, the other says it cant be done due to the wiring being different. Neither of which I believe. So I have called up my local garage who happens to be a VAG specialist and is also a friend of my dads for over 25 years, now he says yeah it can and it shouldnt be a problem.

I've also had a look on e-bay and there are a number of the original Audi Bi-Xenon headlights going, its from Germany, would these be ok to fit on a UK model?

good on you maz,
from my research it would appear they are plug and play, and that the only things you wont have are self levelling and headlamp wash (unless you want to retrofit those too).
I used to own a mkiv golf, and I retro fitted oem xenons to it (without auto wash and self level), and all I needed to do that was a wiring loom adaptor. However in the case of the audi a4 I believe (and have been told...see above posts!) that the looms are not required as the xenons use the exsisting loom....thus making them plug and play! The strange thing is, this was quite a common mod on golfs, so im amazed only 1 person seems to have done this on here for the a4!

as for german xenons, they should be fine....on the assumption you can shift the beam to the correct side of the road for driving....you can do this on the uk xenons in order to drive in europe, so I dont see why german xenons cannot be flicked over for uk driving.

hmm cheers. I think I might give it ago at some point, will let you know what happens.

Technically, Xenons are "not legal" in the UK.

They are however, fully legal in mainland Europe, so due to that they are "not illegal" in the UK. In order to make the Xenons "not illegal", you will need to have an auto-leveling system, and headlight washers.
