Ok chaps, on the subject matter of the bumper adjusters.
I need to get you all straight on the subject as there seems to be a fair bit of confusion on what purpose they are for.
They perform several important functions, whether you have them fitted or not is entirely down to personal choice.
Are they really needed, my answer is yes, Audi designed them to be used and they do work for the intended purposes, and the same applies, whether you use them or have them fitted is entirely down to the individual owner.
They are designed to be bumper support stand and also an adjustment point for bumper positioning.
Do they work, yes they do if you understand their basic design and your mounts are in working order.
They provide centre support and rigidity to the centre section of the bumper and grille assembly, without them the bumper a larger section of the bumper is only retained by a few bolts , once you loose that centre rigidity the whole bumper is able to flex ,which is not the best plan.
They are so cheap and easy to replace and even retro fit onto another crash bar .
It's a very simple device which Audi found performed an important enough job to design and fit, otherwise why bother.
I have them on my old bus and have always found them to work very well for the designed job.
Don't get me wrong, Audi have made some really less than ideal parts for the B7, i don't think this is one though.
Use them or don't use them, your choice chaps.
