Hi,

I wonder if anyone can enlighten me on a problem im encountering on my 2006 audi a3 sportback 2.0 tdi dsg. I had given my audi to the missus after she passed her test and shortly after she said the car kept cutting out when she slowed down at roundabouts or for lights. She had said this also happened at lights where she would slow down and it would cut out. The car before she had it never gave me any problems.

Anyway, took it to the garage and they said a wire leading to the crank sensor burnt out and they repaired it. Got the car back and nothing had changed. Tool the car back and they changed the crank sensor but said the problems still happening so i need a new ECU. So i have the code 03G 906 021 LG. But it seems that no where in the country is there one that is for a dsg auto model which is unbelievable as these cars are so common.

So my questions are:

1) Do you think the diagnosis is correct?
2) can i use a manual ecu with the same code on my auto vehicle
3) is it possible to rebuild the ecu as there is a website that offers this
4) Does anyone know where i can get a hold of an ecu suitable for mu car

I would be greatful if anyone can help! Otherwise i would have to scrap the car.

They have plenty on Fleabay, just do a search .

You would need to code the ECU coded to the car.
Where abouts in the country are you ?. When you drive the car does it drive OK, Is it something your Mrs is doing. I would have thought the problem is more likely related to the DSG box and the ECU especially if the engine runs fine at all other RPM. When was the last time the gearbox oil / filter changed ? .

Hi,

I have checked ebay but they do not have the correct ECU for me all of them are for manuals that match the correct ECU number I need one for an automatic. I have checked spare parts website n all. My missus is alright driver although a little wild. Im located in wolverhampton. The car drives ok, no shakes or judders but when it slows down it shuts off. cant remember the last time gearbox oil was changed to be honest once i tried to have it done and the garage said it should last a life time. So I am assuming it is essential that the ECU comes from a auto rather than a manual? The garage said to me its 100% the ECU. Im not too sure......

I hope this answers your question

DSG gearbox oil and filter should be changed every 40K miles. If it's not you will have issues.
If you are in Wolverhampton you might like to take it along to Midland VW just up the A5 from Cannock.

I have used them several times and they are very good.
If the ECU in your car is anything like the earlier EDC15's then they can be used in manual, auto and 4X4 cars just by changing the coding on the ECU. It's quite possible that is the case with your ECU.
On Partsbase that ECU part number you quoted doesn't say anything about DSG.

If you are looking for somebody to code a new ECU then either Midland VW or P-torque in Wombourne

Is the garage that told you the oil in the DSG should last for life the same one that has told you the ECU is faulty ??

Karl.

its an edc16u34 and a manual one is fine just change the coding to an auto with vcds . you willl need to pair it with either vcds or another tool to allow the key to work ,or have an immo defeat done to it .
