after some help on ecu swap 2.0 tdi

hi i have had an issue last week or 2 the when i turn ignition on the fuel mileage reads zero glow plug light stays on and car doesnt start.turn ignition on and off a few times and fuel mileage reads normal and starts and drives fine until turned off again.have read fault codes and all relates to ecu communication problems.my thoughts are the ecu and looking about they are easy to get,are they staright swap plug and play or do i need to change clocks and key chip too?i have vcds so maybe possible to match a second hand ecu to the clocks?any advice appreciated thanks

ECU swap needs specialist tools, it can't be done in VCDS.

I would suggest it's more a power to the ECU issue than the ECU.
