True Dave, I stand corrected, sorry mate. I've just been having a read through and it seems there is a few different varieties, I thought they were black. Sorry dude. I'm still quite new to this Audi stuff as have only had mine since late September and this is my 1st time in a forum!Maybe for different years, mine is grey and black leather and I've got black headlining.
No worries mate, my first Audi and also first car forum that I've followed.True Dave, I stand corrected, sorry mate. My fault has being new to Audi's I didn't dig around enough and missed one the engine codes. What's dodgey about your engine mate?
Easiest one is on the front windscreen, if yours starts with WUA then you have an SE.A4 rob, you know your stuff mate!! Thanks for helping but still can't get my head around the VIN numbers. What are they and where do I look?
Thanks Dave. I'll check it out in thr light of day tomorrowEasiest one is on the front windscreen, if yours starts with WUA then you have an SE.
or on your logbook. Thanks Dave. I'll check it out in thr light of day tomorrow
I've got them, what replacements are you looking at?the other easy ID method are the exhaust tips, factory fitment on these are black 80mm tips with a slight downward slash cut.
unless your back boxes have been replaced with non standard or had the tips changed they should be as above, they are on mine , well for a few more days until i lop them off for some nicer ones.....

Thats what I want to know about mine, VW Audi tech seemed to think my mapping was BUL although I don't know, its v quick though.to be honest i was going to spend a few pennies on the engine but decided against it, i find the map on the 220 BUL engine fine for my needs,(220 uses a different ecu map to the normal 2.0t engine), it makes me smile when ever i drive it, just put decent 98ron in it and i goes like stink, if your engine and aux parts all in good shape then why mess with them, i find it can be a recipe for disaster sometimes, deffo a case of "if it's not broken dont fix it " .
I have done all the known issues with the engine to date so i'm happy with it .
Quick swap for a quick sale I reckon as the car had high mileage quite quickly in its first few years, the Guy I bought it from only did maybe 20k in 6 years. This ecu mapping millarchy can be a bit of a mine field i think, so many different permutations etc, i supose it all depends on what your are hoping to get from the car performance wise, i could very easily loose my license with my car as it is.....it does go like stink, even moreso on cooler days, i quite like the somewhat spontaneuos delivery of the BUL map sometimes, just gets up and goes, wahooooooo.
I have driven a few standard map 2.0t's and the power delivery of the BUL is quite different, deffo more of a torque band too, well thats my thoughts.
I find a bit odd that your BUL engine was swapped over, all the parts are still available as are the engines in full and short motor format, maybe it was a cut price repair from the previous owner.
Been quoted £1000 plus vat for a recon BUL with a years warranty unfitted or £800 plus vat for a secondhand BUL.when i bought mine last june it had 29k on the clock and one owner from new, purchased from west london audi as an approved used car with full warranty, i had more issues with it than you could shake stick at, all sorted now but i did have a new short motor fitted, complete new turbo and aux valves etc, complete new power steering rack and pump, and a load of other bits all over the car, so nothing surprises me anymore with these cars.
A4 rob. I've got the same car as you mate but mine is still totally stock. I'm thinking more power mate, what you recommend? I was thinking revo stage 1. Been quoted £400 by local Audi specialist(had cam belt and stuff done by him he's good) what you reckon?
Ah ok. It's a fuel. My closest garage is a shell so I put v power in 99% of the time. The odd time I've been caught out. (vPower not in use or super market garage) and I can also feel a significant difference. I've read that the engine can suffer a big problem with carbon build up so I tend to try and use decent stuff. Not sure if it makes a difference there really
