Absolutely gutted. I've just kerbed my alloy coming out of a tight parking spot. Had my S3 nearly a year and the alloys were immaculate. They're the diamond cut ones so going to be an absolute ***** to sort. I'm so annoyed. My car is kept perfect and this just spoils it, I can barely bring myself to look at it.

Any suggestions on how they need to be repaired? I live near Leeds but will do whatever is needed to have it looking immaculate.

Aww mate. Whilst I dont have diamond cut, my alloys are at the stage now that I really dont care anymore. I plan on getting them totally refurbed soon anyway. They are just the OEM facelift s3 ones so should be a simpler affair than yours.

I know how you feel mate I did the same thing the other week to one of my diamond cut ones. You can get it repaired by the wheel specialist but they keep it for 3 days and will cost you around £140 to repair. After looking into it people said the wheels they had done were never quite the same as the others and that would just make my OCD work overtime. A new wheel is around £650 and they didn't have any on Ebay second hand undamaged. I had mine all refurbished in gloss black

Reading your post, and depending how bad, if it was me, I would probably cough up for a new one.

Thanks for the posts. I posted on here before I told my other half as I knew the sympathy would be far better here!

Cam87, have you any idea why people weren't totally happy after the refurb?

I'll try and post a pic of the damage.

Go to the wheel specialist in garforth. Just behind express bifolding doors near tesco. This is where all the Porsche bentley and other premium dealers send their cars for proper wheel refurbs. I had my Speedlines done last year by them and they were perfect. They can do proper diamond cut repairs too. I also got 15% off with my TTOC membership but they said any recommendations would honour the same discount.

I could do with them details also how much they charge?

I'm in Leeds and know a man that has someone that will do diamond turned wheels

What are the details Jordan?

Here's the damage, some may consider it small but to be honest that's irrelevant to me!

That's funny because yesterday I thought I did this in my A3 making a tight turn in the parking lot to maneuver out of the shopping mall and let a pickup truck pass out I felt a slight rub up to the curb. Once I got home I looked at the rear wheel where I suspected touched up against the curb and low and behold I saw a mark, same coloration as what you shown in the picture. I took out my thumb, licked it a bit and rubbed on the mark and to my surprise the mark went away. Dirt? :D

The main reason was that the colour didn't match properly I believe. With diamond cut wheel you can only refurb them a few times due to having to cut away at the alloy for the finish. Less of a warranty on the repair work too

Gutted for you. I've had my 1.4 COD for 6 months now, first ever brand new car, i've had 3 other cars and never kerbed a wheel, until this one.

I've done the drivers side in the snow when I missed the drive entrance in my street, the bin lorry was in our street which is actually 2 way but has a narrow enough road to make it 1 way, so to go past it I went up the kerb via driveway cut down and missed, because of the snow making it invisible and put a small 20mm graze. I was furious, the other time I tried to avoid a pothole and bumped off the kerb, and it put a 50mm radius of very fine light scratches, which are very hard to notice, luckily they are on the edge of the alloy and not all the way up it. Everything has been laqcured, and I clean it up myself. I hardly notice them, especially the 20mm graze on the drivers side alloy, most of the time the wheel position hides it. I do notice the 50mm light scratches when washing...

You sound like me, takes pride in his car and cleans it well. I was so gutted when I did these, but now I don't really mind them. At the start I wanted to get it done, I live in Northampton and the nearest place that can fix Diamond Cut wheels is in Milton Keynes, and one guy on here used them and they fixed it well, but he noticed a small swirl under the lacquer and they apparently wouldn't do anything about it. I just told myself, for the sake of a small imperfection on a wheel (lets face it, wheels will never stay perfect) whats the point, because they might re do it and it might not be like new again anyway. I've settled to, if the salt gets in it and ruins the alloy I'll get them done then.

Just try to calm down, have a good think and base your decision on that. I know how you feel, it might sound silly but I got heart ache when I did both of mine, couldn't stop thinking about it and got quite unhappy for a good few hours until I started to tell myself it's not that bad.
Yours doesn't look that bad either, but it does if you see what I mean, it is actually bigger than mine and more noticeable because of those darker alloys show it up more. Shame :(

Have a good think!

It could be worse. This happened to me over the weekend. Just awaiting it to be taken to the body shop.

Definitely not dirt I'm afraid. I washed it to inspect it properly and it's definitely a mark. The alloy will need sanding down or filling in to smooth if out.

I'll have to see what I think over the next couple of days. A couple of very helpful people have already sent me numbers of possible repairers. I'll get a quote probably, although o do understand what you're saying about the potential to happen again. I think my problem is that every time I look at the car my eyes are drawn to it.

I know what you mean, it's like, you know it's there but no one else would unless they specifically look for it, and your always paranoid thinking everyone can see the mark and it makes you feel bad

Another option , might be Alloygators? I had them fitted to my past 2 cars and now have them on my S3 and they will both hide your current damage on the edge and protect all 4 wheels going forward from a similiar fate. Lots of different colour options with, grey, black or silver offering a more subtle look. £125 fitted for 4.

These look blooming awful!! In the last 10 years I've only kurbed 2 wheels, both avoiding things in the road. And I've had a fair few cars in that period. Given how often I change wheels there's no point in these for me.

If it makes you feel better.

1. I had my s3 for 36 hours and some moron in a 4x4 drove into the back of my s3 at about 10 mph. Took 1 month to get my car back due to sheer incompetence from synterdrive. I was going mental at them every day

A week after getting the car back I kerbed 2 alloys outside my house

6 months later someone clipped the front bumper. Scum drove off. Alas camera footage limited use as at night and no lighting and car to close to see number plate. I'm convinced it was a restaurant workers parent or friend. Luckily only £125 to fix

Clipped a 3rd alloy at work, due to a stupid barrier setup designed by people who don't care about their cars. You either get close to the security pass detector and risk the alloys or get out the car swipe it but is due is barrier comes down way too quickly and sometimes barrier doesn't stop and bashes your car. Designed by an idiot.

Mind you I saw a 6 month old s3 and it looks as though some had taken an angle grinder to their alloys

You want to see the state of my rotors. Every single one kerbed by the wife. Past caring now and had a new tyre recently and the tyre place scratched the titanium colour spoke. Polished it out with a machiner polisher which then turned the Matt lacquer to shiny lacquer. I now have an odd colour wheel.

When they get really bad with wheel worm I am just refurbing them in titanium colour. Sod the diamond cutting. Just not suitable for UK roads, kerbs and car parks.

Or get some new alloys eg bbs ones which have a replaceable rim protector

Hey all, sorry to see the damage on here . The wife has just come home in tears that she's caught the front drivers see wheel. I've got an alloy insurance from Audi and have contacted them, do u think they will be able to do anything about this.......?? (Picture of the alloy below)

Jesus. She's hit something pretty damn hard. Looks like it's taken a sizeable chunk out of the tyre sidewall!
Replace that tyre ASAP before doing anything else.

The damage on the alloy is fairly small but with the tyre damage looks like a hard shunt. Hopefully Audi will just give you a brand new alloy

A cyclist dropped / jumped off the pavement on to the road and in to her path so she swerved to avoid him and hit an island in the middle of the road. Cyclist shot off. Contacted Audi in reference to tyre advice but they didn't come back.

Did you need a new tyre, that almost looks to have off as bad as the alloy itself!

Had a small run in with an ambulance yesterday and kerbed the drivers front, gutted is not the word. Think i am going to buy a single spare so i can have it repaired which will take 5 working days apparently. Another £575 down the loo :(

Ah that is the worst feeling in the world. I remember it was my mrs who kerbed the alloy on my z4 after a month of owning it, was trying to keep the anger under wraps but i'm sure it must have seeped out and was quite noticeable.

It does make me think though if I should take out some kind of alloy insurance for the A3 once I get it, has anyone got any experience with how good the service is from websites like ala or gapcover etc? I know that doesn't really help you now Palacemads, but I do feel your pain.

Do you think it will buff out?

Bit of a result today. Had a chap pop over and he took out most of the damage on mine. It is only noticeable from about 12" away :)
I mentioned buying another wheel as a spare and he said why not just paint them. That way if they are damaged again then they can be treated like a standard alloy. Needless to say that at £50 a wheel i have taken him up on the offer and am having all 4 done in 2 weeks time. He comes to me in his monster van too!

Sorted this myself with some wet and dry and re sealed wheel, not an audi alloy but much better

Didn't need a new tyre, took it to Audi Crawley and they said the reinforced wall had been hit and it was all ok. Waiting on a company called "Flying Colours" to come and do alloy. They have seen damage and reckon it'll be back to as new. Fingers crossed.
