Hi Guys and girls,

I was wondering if you could help me out. My car is shaking it's self silly! On start up and throughout the gears, the vibration gets worse from 2000rpm.
I will tell you everything we have done, and then can you please tell me what you think i should do next, or even what the problem could be.

The problem i think started around the time my car stalled and wouldn't start again, after spending £600 (on an electrical specialist), it turned out to be wiring loom problems! not very descriptive i know but thats all they told me!

Since then:
  • I have changed the clutch master cylinder as this was sticking to the floor when changing aggressively.
  • I have fixed the air leaks; B5 Tip and piping under inlet manifold (no more leaks)
  • I have reconnected the EGT sensor (which was replaced during the wiring fault) however my new mechanic now thinks this could be non OE as there is lots of extra wiring.
  • We took off the starter motor to look for play in the DMF, but there wasn't much movement and only slight rubbing marks between the two plates (seen through tiny camera)
My new mechanic thinks it could be the DMF, what do you think? am i just avoiding the obvious (and expense) and should just replace this? or would there be lots more play in the DMF for there to be so much shaking?

The vibrations go right through the cabin and especially through the gear knob!

Any help would be much appreciated,

Jordan

Checked all the bolts are in your prop transfer box end? One of mine came out the vibration was horrendous.

Make sure your dogbone mount is secure. One of my bolts came out and caused terrible vibrations!

Cheers for the replies,

Checked the Prop and everything was fine, also had a compression test done and that came back fine.

I will get the dogbone mount checked? can i do that easily?

I've seen a stupid amount of Vibration caused by worn Bogbone and gearbox mounts on both Skoda Octavia and Golf MK4. So much that the Octavia Diesel would touch against the Bulkhead. Then again I stiffened the Mounts on my A3 and That causes a lot of vibration too.. can't win

Very easy.

Search for a thread on how to change it, if you have some basic tools you may as well do it as it could improve things

Hi guys,
So i had my car scanned with VCDS and the following codes came up:
IMG 3267
Apparently there is nothing to worry about! what do people think?

thanks,

What are the rest of the codes?
Errors on all of your injectors......

Mine was shaking to bits from bad misfires.

Log block 013 and see if its pulling lots of timing

They were all cylinder ignition faults! He said they may have been from the compression test i had done earlier in the week. But they wont be the problem as they are intermittent and not live. Therefore not the problem now?

is that right? Thanks for getting back to me!
