07 plate digital dual zone climate control help...

Hi all,
I have a 07 plate a3 sportback with digital dual zone climate control.
I have had this car for a while now and I have always been curious about this....
I have to individually adjust the temperature for each side. But sometimes on rare occasions it does allow me to use drivers side as main temperature control, but when it does and if I use passengers side temperature control to adjust it'll make them both individual again.

I was wondering it being individual normal?
or should drivers side be main?

I think if you press auto for 5 secounds, temp for both sides is control by drivers side only.Passenger side control will ony adjust passenger side.
