  • I am interested in buying a set of XXR wheels but they come in 9.75J, 8.75J and 8.25J (weird width dimension). Of course, the concavity of the wheels is different by its width. So would 9.75J with ET20 will fit? (eventually stretched tyres)

Nobody? Forgot to mention that the question refers to AUDI S3.

I think @JoeeS3 has 9.5J ET23 Rota Grid Drifts on the front with 7mm spacers? He had to space the wheels out for wheel arch clearance. He's also got 225/40/18 tyres stretched over them which will help

You'd have to do the same assuming all else is the same; i guess it'll depend on if/or how much its lowered.

What tyres are you planning on fitting to them? I cant imagine 225s on a 9.75" rim will be the best idea in the world? 225s came as standard on a 7.5J rim and a 9.75J rim is some 57mm wider... you going to stick with 225?

I have 225 on an 8.5J rim and am considering to move to 235 when all 4 tyres need changing

Hi,
I've got 215's: on 9.5 on the front, I'd say the max tyre you could get with the right spacing is 225 for the fronts, then you could always have 245's on the rear providing the rolling radius' are the same on both front and back (if your car has haldex)

Well, I was thinking to fit 235\40\18 in front and 255\35\18 in back.
I just found this thread with a S3 and XXR 527 but the specs of the setup are not mentioned :(

18" XXR wheels
They're multifit, 5x100 & 5x114.3
Mine are the for the 9.75 wide, With a 225/40 tire on, thats the limit of stretch that I dare to go to. make sure you check your clearances if you run the 9.75's on the front, I have about 2mm of clearance between the rim and the strut

XXR527 18" 9.75J ET20 with 225/40/18 tyres on

oh wow, that's some serious stretch then. Is that for cosmetics or was that also to reduce wheel arch rubbage?
Haha indeed it is, the tyres were already on there when I bought the wheels, they've been okay for cornering although, I'll be getting thinner wheels on the fronts next time.

Thanks Alex!
What do you think, running 225/40/18 on 9.75j will not cause rubbing in front? (in the back I will roll fenders if any problems)

I couldn't say to be honest, but it wouldn't surprise me if you got some rubbing on the outside front whilst cornering

You should be okay running 225/40/18 will depend on your suspension set up and how you space it

I don't want to go too hard, I want to fit some Eibach ProKit\H&R springs and Koni Str. T Orange shock absorbers. And no spacers, I guess the ET is low enough for not needing spacers. Or not?!

Down here is the MK4 in my town that made me change my mind about Rota Grid Drift :)) I guess he's 9.75 also.

im running 9.5j on the front with 20mm spacers with 225/40/18s and drive the car every day fine. mine really is joees3's pre facelift brother lol

Hi everyone , can someone tell me if the rear fenders of an S3 are the same as A3 fenders?
Thanks

I mean the fenders , if they are wider than the A3 , , I'm interested in this because I want to make my A3 to look as much as possible as an S3 .The front fenders are clearly much wider but the rear ones are they?

I'm looking at the same wheels but not in gold would spaces be need for these? And would they fit over 18z Calipers with that offset
Wheels sizes baffle me
