Hi,
Problem just noticed in this car that i brought this week, well i think it is, cause i've never owned an Automatic or an Audi before this.
What happens is, with gearbox in sport mode, if you are cruising at about 20-30mph and you then stamp the throttle down straight to maximum, it does its usual down change as normal but then the rev's fly up to 6000rpm without fully accelarating, until i let the throttle off a bit and the rev's ease back down and the "slipping" stops, its like your wheel spinnnig a manual car until it grips but obviously not wheel spinning here so i imagine its a clutch issue or the gearbox its self, is this normal or not?
if not, then whats most likely the cause:
Clutch problem of some discription
This DMF flywheel i keep reading about
gearbox oil
gearbox other problem
Or just the way these cars work and dont generally like stomping on the throttle in sport mode.
It doesn't do it if im slightly less aggressive with the throttle.
And also doesn't do it in 'Drive' but that doesn't have the same acceleration in that mode, not tried it in Tiptronic yet as forgot to try that but i'm guessing that doesn't accelerate as fast as Sport mode(No idea - am a tiptronic rookie/virgin ).
plus will any of this show a fault code.
should be getting it on diagnostic machine at my "small" local garage and might get him to do a gearbox filter and oil change as thats the cheap option... But be good to get long time users of this car on here oppinion, any help appreaciated.
Car is:
2002 Audi A4 Quattro Sport 3.0l V6 Saloon
Tiptronic Auto Gearbox
