VIN No. location, about to buy one + any tips?

Hi,

I will be looking for an 8p shortly and need to know where the vin no. Locations are so I can check it against the v5.

I haven't done a search yet which I will but what are the main things I should look for in a 2004 2.0 tdi?

The vin is in the bottom right of the windscreen and if you press the reset button on the wiper stalk a couple of times you'll get a menu up on the DIS, in check you can read the chassis no there too. Possibly on a suspension turret under the bonnet too, I've not checked there though myself.

Check the revision no on the inlet, take the engine cover of and it's on the bottom right of the manifold cast into it. A and B are at risk of porous head C and Audi supposedly had it sorted but it's not a guarantee. Other than that you need to do all the regular used car checks. A3s are pretty bullet proof as a whole.
