I am about to buy a pioneer deh-x8500dab radio but it has rear usb.

my intention is to have my iphone mounted in a 'tetrac smart' attached to the centre console vents.

i haven't pulled anything apart in the car yet, can anyone recommend how I might be able to route a cable from the back of the stereo to the vent area?

or, should I forget about that stereo and go for one with FRONT usb instead?

many thanks

I ran a charging cable from the cigarette lighter, behind the stereo and out the blank switches next to the esp button, just drilled a hole and put a rubber grommit in. Works a treat. could be an option?

Or you could remove the long thin piece of trim that sits atop the centre console (it just pulls out), feed the cable through the gap and then refit the trim. If it creates too much of a pinchpoint, you can cut an invisible notch in the trim piece to create just enough gap for the cable to pass through without it being squeezed.

Thanks for the replies! Jdp1962's suggestion looks good. Especially if I can find a flat iphone 30pin cable!
