Not sure what this is, but it sounds ruddy awful!

Started getting this horrible squeal under hard acceleration. Got a recording of it whilst going through the gears, most prominently heard in 1st. I can't decide if it's a rubbing noise or an 'air escaping' noise. Either way, it hasn't thrown up any error messages.

Any idea on what I'm facing here?

Seem to be fine, although the sound has only been around since I had the PAS pump replaced. What on the belt could be causing the sound? Doesn't necessarily seem to be high-RPM that induces it, more like high-boost

Surprising how loud a boost leak can be.

When I fitted my fmic and went for a test run a leak on one of the hoses made a hell of a noise, followed by the new hose popping off lol

Interesting! I guess it'll be a bumper-off job with some soapy water spray to check the intercoolers?

I would suspect near the PAS pump if it only started after changing that

When the pas pump was changed I would imagine they removed the upper hard pipe to get the belt off so I would check connections at either end of that first

Thought I'd update this in case anyone else had the same problem:

Turns out it was the alternator pulley on it's way out, £35 for a new one and no more squeals!
