A3 info wanted

I've had my 3.0 quattro for six months now and well impressed, in that time I've lost count of the number of times my oh's bmw 530d sport has broken down so it's got to go, thinking of getting an A3 but what should I look out for or avoid, must be an auto btw

More info needed pal...... Year? Budget? 3 or 5 door? Petrol or diesel....?
A good all rounder is and 2.0 tdi Quattro model s line variant IMO
