Hi Guys,

Picked up a random issue last week.

Normally with my 2.0L TFSI you can hear and feel the boost kick in around 2500 rpm and its gradual.

Now it only kicks in around 3000 rpm and its very sudden and hard.

Any ideas? I don't think its the turbo as the car doesn't smoke at all and i'm not using excess oil?

Another note is that is doesn't always happen?

Thanks in advance.

Hook it up to VCDS and chart the boost in 3rd or 4th gear worth WOT.

DV - Dumpvalve ?

I recently replaced the PCV valve as it was making a noise.

Could this be the related ?

Yes, the DV is the dump valve - unfortunately it's tucked underneath the back of the engine on the turbo on K03 cars so you would need a ramp or trolley jack to get access to it. Very common and causes exactly what you are experiencing.

Quick test for the PCV is to start the engine and undo the oil filler cap for a few secs - the engine will try and stall / stutter. This is good, if it doesn't then the PCV is not working correctly and/or the pipework is leaking.
